What Happens When Sports Injuries Go Untreated

Recurring Injury Cycles

Returning to sport too soon without addressing root causes traps athletes in a pattern of re-injury that compounds over time.

Performance Declines

Compensating for unresolved injuries alters mechanics and limits speed, power, and output in every training session.

Shortened Seasons

Without the right care early, minor sports injuries escalate into extended time off the field, court, or trail.

Matt is an amazing PT!! I have relied on him for years to treat my shoulders and hips. Matt’s expertise has helped me work around my injuries while maintaining an active lifestyle. There is no other person I would trust.

Matt has been a huge help with my knee and hip mobility. He really takes the time to understand what’s going on and genuinely cares while you’re with him. Highly recommend!

I’m grateful for Matt’s help. I came to Tropic Athlete therapy with very bad lower back pain a few months ago, and I could not perform the exercises that I used to do. After 11 sessions, now, I am able to get back to gym, and by following the exercises Matt taught me, I feel my lower back is getting stronger, and my body is getting more balanced. I would recommend Matt to the ones who are looking for a good PT!

I was referred to Matt for a nasty calf strain which stopped me from running, ruck walking, etc. Working at Tropic Athlete, in only 4 sessions, has me running again, mtn. biking, ruck walking, and more. Matt is the real deal and used multiple therapy methods to get me back on the roads! I also have strengthening and flexibility homework so I can continue to 100% recovery.

Samantha Tullo
This was my first experience with a physical therapist and Matt made it equally enjoyable and extremely informative! I appreciated how thorough he was with the initial consult, doing a full-body examination even though my pain was very localized, he didn’t rule anything out. I feel empowered with the plan + exercises provided and am grateful to have found someone so dedicated to their craft, it definitely shows! Thank you Matt!!

FAQs

Common questions about physical therapy at Tropic Athlete.

Do I need a referral for sports physical therapy?

Sessions are $150-$175 each. We don't bill insurance, which means more time with you and less paperwork. Most clients see results in 6-8 visits, and we'll give you an honest timeline at your first evaluation.

Is sports PT different from regular PT?

We're cash-based and don't bill insurance directly. However, many clients use HSA/FSA cards or submit superbills to their insurance for out-of-network reimbursement. We can provide the documentation you need.

Can I keep training during treatment?

Each session is 45-60 minutes of one-on-one time with your therapist. No assistants, no double-booking—just focused care designed around your goals.

How long does sports physical therapy typically take?

We'll spend time understanding your injury, goals, and training routine. Then we'll do a thorough movement assessment, start hands-on treatment, and give you a clear plan for recovery. You'll leave with exercises and next steps.

Still have questions?
