Matt really knows what he was talking about. He helped get me back into CrossFit pain-free. I would definitely recommend.
Johan Toro
Matt took the time to fully evaluate how my body moved. This led to him diagnosing the actual issues with my form while exercising that contributed to my injuries. Matt has methodically worked with me to chip away at correcting my deficiencies. His knowledge has improved my quality of life dramatically. I highly recommend visiting Matt for his knowledge and expertise.
Me Me
Matt is so wonderful to work with. I have a brachial plexus injury in one arm and a slap tear in my other shoulder. He listened to my concerns and helped work to increase my range of motion and reduce pain and build up other muscles. He gave me helpful exercises and printouts so I could do them on my own. He used techniques no other PT had used, such as dry needling and cupping. And explained all the benefits of each. I notice a difference after a few sessions with him and continue the exercises he taught me.

Matt has been a huge help with my knee and hip mobility. He really takes the time to understand what’s going on and genuinely cares while you’re with him. Highly recommend!
Goldpoint
I’m grateful for Matt’s help. I came to Tropic Athlete therapy with very bad lower back pain a few months ago, and I could not perform the exercises that I used to do. After 11 sessions, now, I am able to get back to gym, and by following the exercises Matt taught me, I feel my lower back is getting stronger, and my body is getting more balanced. I would recommend Matt to the ones who are looking for a good PT!

Dr. Martin has been a game changer in my life. I have suffered with back pain for over 15 years. I've been to various chiropractors who I see for a few minutes and then they move along to the next patient. Dr. Martin was the first professional to spend quality time with me in order to truly understand my back problems. He helped me understand the triggers that lead to my debilitating pain, which was something no one has ever done for me. He explained why I have been suffering and developed a plan to help me. He gave the strategies to prevent the pain through exercises that I can do at home and spends time with me to ensure I am doing the exercises properly. Dr. Martin wanted to hear about my daily activities and his insight, from the type of office furniture I use, to how I load my washer/dryer has helped me function at work and at home. I am very grateful and forever thankful I found him. Dr. Martin cares and takes the time to understand the needs of those he serves. I can't recommend him enough.

FAQs

Common questions about physical therapy at Tropic Athlete.

Can physical therapy help if I have a rotator cuff tear?

Sessions are $150-$175 each. We don't bill insurance, which means more time with you and less paperwork. Most clients see results in 6-8 visits, and we'll give you an honest timeline at your first evaluation.

Will I have to stop lifting during treatment?

We're cash-based and don't bill insurance directly. However, many clients use HSA/FSA cards or submit superbills to their insurance for out-of-network reimbursement. We can provide the documentation you need.

How long does shoulder pain recovery take?

Each session is 45-60 minutes of one-on-one time with your therapist. No assistants, no double-booking—just focused care designed around your goals.

Do you treat overhead athletes like swimmers and throwers?

We'll spend time understanding your injury, goals, and training routine. Then we'll do a thorough movement assessment, start hands-on treatment, and give you a clear plan for recovery. You'll leave with exercises and next steps.
